1 Field Squadron
Australian Army engineers - the sappers - have provided a significant range of support to both combat operations and peacetime engineer work. 1 Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers (1 FD SQN RAE) has a remarkable history of contributing to combat operations and peacetime engineering work commencing with the Boer War of 1899-1902. Check out our "History Section" for a mix of interesting, and at times, surprising information on the organisation and development of Australia's Army Engineers.
Every two years 1 FD SQN GP RAE Association organises a reunion dinner and memorial service. Any person who served in 1 FD SQN RAE and its associated sub-units such as the RAE Support Squadron/Troop and RAEME Workshops are invited to attend, together with their partner.
In addition, we will be honouring the Supreme Sacrifice of every Sapper lost to conflicts since 1945 at the Memorial Service in the park adjacent to the Twin Towns Services Club.

Make sure your details are correct on the mailing list by letting us know, should your where abouts change. Why not also put pen to paper (or the keypad) and dictate us fresh stories and images of your experiences. A description of your personal experiences of the time that you were in 1 FD SQN RAE are valuable reminders of the conditions in which our sappers worked while serving their country. Please send us any story - any place - at war or in peace - that you believe is worthy of storing as a permanent record of what happened to you and your mates.
